The Select Program provides an All-Star team for each House League division to gain additional playing and tournament opportunities and advanced level training. The Select team is an extension of the House League division, and players continue to play games and practice with their House League team.
The Select Program provides House League players with an opportunity to train and compete at an advanced level, through coaching and competitive tournament play. Teams compete throughout the summer in one-day weekend tournaments, culminating with a Provincial Championship. Tryouts are held in the spring and are open to all age-eligible players in the U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18/U22 divisions. For Tryout details, click here.
Teams will engage in one additional practice per week and participate in 4 season tournaments; 3 one-day travel tournaments, and a 2-day Provincial Championship held seasonally during the 3rd or 4th weekend in August. For the full Select Schedule, click here.
Are included in the Select fees. Each player will receive their own custom-fitted Oakville Angels Select uniform, pants, socks and Angels cap. Players will have an opportunity to select their own numbers, however, uniforms are new each year and are not carried over seasonally. Parents are responsible for ancillary items such as under armor, t-shirts, etc.
Coaches are trained and certified in the appropriate NCCP context, to competently align with the heightened expectation and level of Select tournament play. Note, it is not standard for a Select coach to coach at the House League, and Select teams are not bound by the same provisions for equal play-time of a House League team. However coaches, players and parents will conform to the OGSA Code of Conduct, to ensure each player has a meaningful experience.
2017 Fees: $250 (includes HST)
Fees include uniforms, tournament entry (3), provincial entry (1), practice facility rentals, and team specific equipment. All participating players must pay the full registration fee. Due to the nature of Select amenities, under no circumstances will fees be pro-rated or refunded. Note: Depending on the ability of the OGSA to host a tournament, some Select divisions may potentially engage in 1 additional at-home tournament.
