About the Select Program

The Select Program provides an All-Star team for each House League division to gain additional playing and tournament opportunities and advanced level training. The Select team is an extension of the House League division, and players continue to play games and practice with their House League team.

The 2025 season ran from May to August and included OSSTA Sanctioned Tournaments and Provincials at all levels.

2027 Select – U13 and U15 Fall Tryouts

For U13 and U15 players that are interested in trying out for Select (tournament team), details are below.

Players in the Select Program must also register as Oakville Angels House League players.

With the 2027 season, the Oakville Angels will have 2 teams in each of the U13 (2014/2015) and U15 (2012/2013) age groups: a Junior (JR) team and a Senior (SR) team. The Junior team will typically draw more from the younger birth year and the Senior team more from the older birth year, but this is not a strict split – final rosters are based on tryout evaluations, team makeup/need, and coach’s discretion, so a player could be offered a position on either team regardless of her birth year. Both age groups will have a general tryout for all girls, with team-specific tryouts to follow.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the identified start time to allow for a smooth registration process before the tryout starts.

More details about the Select Program

The Select Program provides House League players with an opportunity to train and compete at an advanced level, through coaching and competitive tournament play.

Season Format

Oakville Select teams will practice weekly, play exhibition games and participate in select tournaments.

About the Uniforms

The uniform is included in the Select Program fee.

All Select girls will receive two custom-fitted Oakville Angels Select Jersey, one embroidered visor and Under Armor socks, and one pair of Mizuno Low Rise Softball pants.

Players will have an opportunity to select their own numbers, however, uniforms are new each year and are not carried over seasonally.  Players’ last names will be printed on their jerseys

About the Select Coaches

Coaches are trained and certified in the appropriate NCCP context, to competently align with the heightened expectation and level of Select tournament play.

Note, it is not standard for a Select coach to coach at the House League, and Select teams are not bound by the same provisions for equal play-time of a House League team.

However coaches, players and parents will conform to the OGSA Code of Conduct, to ensure each player has a meaningful experience.

If you are interested in coaching on an elevated plane, and working with athletes who aspire to compete at a higher level, the OGSA has a development program that would interest you.

The Select program is about learning to compete at a higher level. Select coaches therefore aspire to a heightened competition level and possess the aptitude to engage their athletes to succeed beyond a basic participation level. Select coaches are open-minded about varying degrees of player performance with a capacity for motivating players and stewarding young people through competitive sport.

Select Program Cost

2025 Fees: $450 (includes HST)

All participating players must pay the select registration fee before they are eligible to play in the select program.

In the event that the full tournament schedule is not possible then a pro-rated refund may be made where applicable.
